Thank you Trish. I didn't do jump rings because I wanted to make sure that the tiles were completely against each other. I drilled a hole in every corner through all layers including the plexiglas and used what is called a mini-brad which is made for paper crafts. they have two "legs"that go through the hole and then you separate them on the back side. If you don't know what I mean, tell me and I will take a photo of one. They are very tiny and come in many colors and shapes. Then I tied all of them together with a very fine but strong wire. Then, behind I painted all the "legs" black behind the black tiles so you couldn't see them (I used model paint) The brads I used were silver-color anyway so you couldn't see them on the aluminum back side.
The front of each rectangle just looked like they had a little dot in the corners.
