Antoinette MagalettaThe part around the wings is steam bent red oak. We painted it black for contrast. I used 32 gauge copper foil.....probably cut 100 tiles in each one for the wings . So thin I could cut them, folded them over for a more organic look. Placed clear flux on... moreThe part around the wings is steam bent red oak. We painted it black for contrast. I used 32 gauge copper foil.....probably cut 100 tiles in each one for the wings . So thin I could cut them, folded them over for a more organic look. Placed clear flux on both sides of the tiles the used white liquid enamels, sgraffito then fired about hundreds of times. Lots more to this piece. I’ll send a video. It has a new home. Artisan Works in Rochester, NY bought it for their meditation room. Happy New Year to all enamelists. We bring color to the world. less
