The disc is silver clay. I usually do this because 1) I love to have a texture on the silver (not so obvious here), and 2) it's what I have on hand - lots of it! Because the silver clay is more porous and can react with certain colors, it was a challenge to get the red to come out red, instead of the mottled brown like you see on the reverse.
What part is silver clay - the base? if so, why did you use silver clay, and not a silver disc?
is the cloisonne outline wire or clay ? Love the Woodrow Red>
