The section that has been screen printed is the turtle and the owl. From my original drawings I create a screen in this case a thermofax type screen. I use three different types of screen making processes....photo emulsion, thermofax, and photo-ez.
Then I push the enamel powder dry through the screen without the use of any adhesives...the turtle was done in one firing then the owl was done in another firing.
Then I use overglazes to draw details over the screened fired images of the animals. Overglaze firing is lower in temperature and fired last.
The background and the roof area is sgraffito through liquid form enamel with firescale and gold foil in the roof.
