The cups/bowls are high fired and theenamels used are all leaded enamels and mostly a mixture of Soyer, Schauer and Milton Bridge. It is the combination of a very hard and a soft enamel that gives the flowing colours and possible only the last firing to be high and long. The enamel will flow both inside and outside so it is a question of thinking two or three firings ahead and only the last firing will produce the effect.
I have tried to recreate the effect with Thompson lead free enamels but not quite made it. It may have to do with these enamels beeing too close in firing temperature. I'm still experimenting and have come across other very nice effects.
Hi Tom, your cups are all very beautiful. I love the flowing colors. Have you used Thompson enamels? Are the cups high fired? And if so, how did you prevents that the enamel drops down? Edmund
