Storytelling in Metal is a juried exhibition showcasing metalsmithing and art jewelry that requires the story of the inspiration behind these works of art.
Judge: Charles Lewton-Brain
Judging will be based on the following elements: Creativity, Originality, and Craftsmanship.
Prizes: $1,000+ in prizes and awards
Eligibility: The exhibition and competition is open to all metal and/or jewelry artist age 18 and older. No larger than 10 inches x 10 inches x 10 inches. Jewelry or Metal work only. Work must be original works, of artist’s design, fabricated by the artist, completed within the past two years, and not previously exhibited at the Morean. The juror has final authority for selection. All work must be for sale. Retail price not to exceed US$5,000.

Artist may enter up to 3 pieces, 2 photos per piece. Each digital entry should be labeled with full last name, first letter of first name, and entry number matching the application form (e.g. LastnameF1.jpg). High resolution photograph, Size of jpg 1920 x 1920. Images of accepted work will be retained by FSG and the Morean for promotional materials related to the exhibition and for archival purposes.
Size Limitations: Size limitations are 10 inches wide x 10 inches high x 10 inches deep. Weight limit is 20 lbs. The Morean reserves the right to eliminate any entry which not reasonably adaptable to the facility.
Liability: All reasonable precautions will be taken by FSG and the Morean Arts Center to ensure protection of submitted work upon receipt at the Morean. Work will be insured for 60% of the retail price for the duration of the exhibition while on site. No liability will be assumed by the Juror, sponsors, FSG, or the Morean Arts Center personnel connected with the exhibition for damage incurred or loss of work while in transit. Artist are advised to insure their work during shipping.
Agreement: Submitting an entry form to this exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the artists with all conditions in this prospectus. No work accepted for the exhibition may be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition. After the specific work has been accepted, the artist cannot substitute another work for the accepted one or raise the sale price. The Morean reserves the right to refuse any entry if, upon arrival, the juror or exhibitions staff, finds the work unacceptable. Sales are encouraged, and the Morean Arts Center retains a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition. Artist will be paid for sold works within thirty days of the close of the exhibition. Insurance value at 60% of retail.
Entry Form and Fees: FSG Members fees: nonrefundable fee of $35 for first piece and an additional $10 per piece up to 5 pieces. Non FSG Members fees: nonrefundable fee of $50, for first piece and an additional $15 per piece up to 5 pieces Fees must be submitted with all entry forms and images. Resume/Artist Statement: A current resume, artist statement, and story of the piece must be submitted with the application.
Awards: Winners to be announced 5:30 PM, Nov. 12, 2016
Judging: Selection of the works will be done by the jurors from the images submitted. The jurors reserves the right to eliminate any work that which does not meet the standards of quality for the exhibition. Award winners will be selected from the actual works displayed by the gallery by Mr. Charles Lewton-Brain as Judge.
Shipping and Pickup of Artwork: Accepted work, bio, artist statement, story, and resume, may be hand delivered or shipped prepaid to arrive no later than October 28, 2016. Hand deliveries are by appointment and should NOT be scheduled for Saturdays or Sundays. Insurance while in transit is the artist responsibility. Unsold work will be shipped back at the artist expense. Please include prepaid return shipping forms, or payment for return shipping with your work. Unsold work must be picked up on Tuesday & Wednesday, December 29-30. Articles left over 10 days become the property of the Morean.
