Introduction to painting and painting-supplemental products Thompson makes and sells includes 900 E Overglaze Painting Enamels; BWC Watercolors; AC 900E Acrylic Enamels; Crayons; Pencils; Carefree Lusters; Ceramic Pigments (Metal Oxides – OC series), how to mix and prepare painting enamels; how to fire painting enamels; how to correctly apply a clear cover coat; silver and gold foil application and firing.
Hands-On Projects: Saturday: Project (1) - 24 g copper, 1-1/2” x 2”
Painted custom shaped jewelry pendant or brooch using thin 24 gauge copper, acrylic painting enamels, with silver and gold foil accents. Crow quill pen needle thin lines will be demonstrated to achieve fine details.
You will learn: Turn down edge, round corners, self-hanging tab/White ‘Canvasing/’Image Outline Transfer/ Identifying Elements of Painting/AC900E-Acrylic Enamel Preparation/Color Mixing/Washes/Layering/Clear Cover Coat/Foil Application/Firing Information
Project (2)- 2” x 3”, 18 gauge copper panel using acrylic enamels to achieve shapes, texture, line and colors o create abstract or real imagery. Layers ae built up one over the other with a clear cover coat on top to create depth.
You will learn: How to come up with subject ideas for your painting/AC900E-Acrylic Enamel Preparation/Color Mixing/Washes/Shading/Layering/Clear Cover Coat
Sunday: Project (3) – 3” x 3” or 4” x 4” Enamel Steel Plates (ESP)
A steel plaque will be used to work on an image that you provide. Your image’s primary outlines will be permanently transferred to the enameled steel tile. Using acrylic painting enamels, carefree lusters and gold and/or silver foil you will bring your image to life.
