    THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF ENAMEL ART

    VILNIUS 2011 6 th October – 4 th November 2011

    MENO NIŠA Gallery kindly invites artists to take part in the Fourth International Biennial of Enamel Art VILNIUS 2011. It is the fourth contest-exhibition of enamel art. The main goal of the biennial is dissemination of enamel art, development and extension of new artistic ideas and technical opportunities.

    Participant information:

    Please provide with works of enamel art under the following categories: 1. Traditional techniques of enamel art: cloisonné and other. 2. Conceptual enamel works. Motto: ENAMEL WITHOUT LIMITS.

    The subject area and type of works shall not be regulated. The idea is to extend the opportunities for enamel use and step out of the limits of the traditional conception and use of enamel. Each participant is invited to submit from 1 to 5 author’s works of enamel art created within the past 5 years and not yet exhibited in biennials VILNIUS 2007 and/or VILNIUS 2009.

    The organisers retain the right to select enamel works sent or otherwise submitted for the biennial.

    A catalogue of the biennial exhibition will be published and issued to all participants of the biennial.

    The contest will be held in two stages:

    STAGE I. Presentation of visual information material for enamel works to, and selection by, the organisers. 1. Artists willing to take part in the biennial contest-exhibition shall submit their works for selection. It is required that enamel comprises at least 70% of the work.

    2. Digital pictures of works (max. resolution 1 MB) shall be sent in a JPG format by e-mail sonata@menonisa.lt before 10 August 2011.It is preferred that pictures of three-dimensional works are taken at several different positions. It is a mandatory requirement is to numerate the pictures and to indicate in the attached word file the number of the image file, the name and the year of the work, the materials and the techniques used as well as the dimensions of the works. Filled out application forms and description of creation/pieces of works (CV) must be also enclosed.

    The organisers will inform the applicants by e-mail on the participants and works selected for the biennial exhibition by 30 August.

    STAGE II. Authors whose works are selected for the biennial exhibition shall submit the following by 19 September 2011: 1. Digital pictures of the selected works of art for the catalogue (format: TIFF/EPS/JPG, resolution: 300 dpi, size: 145mm x 210mm (A5).

    2. A digital portrait photograph for the catalogue. 3. Filled out application form for the selected works sent to e-mail address: sonata@menonisa.lt

    Evaluation and awards

    Works of art will be evaluated by a competent jury comprised of art experts. Decision of the jury will be published at the opening of the biennial exhibition on 6 October 2011. All works selected for the biennial exhibition can be nominated for an award. A piece of artwork awarded the Grand Prix will be deposited at the Exposition Fund of MENO NIŠA Gallery. Works outstanding for original ideas, forms and techniques will be entitled to the following awards: Grand Prix + EUR 1,000 and Diploma of the Vilnius City Municipality; 1st place - biennial prize established by Auksakalių Gildija (Goldsmiths’ Guild): Gold Angel Pin MAGĖ with diamond; 2nd and 3rd places - Diploma of the Vilnius City Municipality.

    Insurance of works of art

    Insurance of works of art during their transportation shall be at author’s cost and expense. The organisers shall be responsible for the works of art during the exhibition.

    Sales of works of art

    It is preferred that works of art be sold. Prices of works of art must be indicated in US dollars or euros.

    Conditions of delivery and return of works of art

    1. Works with maximum gross weight under 500 g shall be returned at organisers’ cost and expense. 2. In case of works with maximum gross weight under 2 kg, the authors shall transfer a fee in the amount of EUR 30 to the gallery’s account for the return of the works.

    All artists shall be eligible to take part in the biennial exhibition upon agreement to the terms and conditions of participation published by the organisers.
