Hi All
Could anybody please offer comments, recommendations or what to avoid on an upgrade to my present kiln - I'm looking for something with a bit bigger chamber.
I am in the UK, and Paragon are by far the easiest to get in this country. I had an SC2 when I was fusing small glass, but had problems with uneven heating - things at the front fused completely while those at the back only half done, so I didn't like it at all, and sold it.
I thought a firebrick kiln (as opposed to fibre) would hold the heat better and have an XPress E9A for enamelling - I no longer do any glass fusing.
The E9A is fine for flat pieces, jewellery and small bowls, but I would like to try bigger panels and more 3D work.
I saw an earlier discussion where a couple of people praised the XPress E10A, which I have been considering, also the XPress E12A, which is pretty expensive here. An E14A would be great, but I can't really justify the expense.
One thing I don't like about the Paragon kilns is the 'strip of metal' door closure, which seems awkward and difficult to operate without a spare hand. If anybody with the UK version has any tips for dealing with this or adapting it, I would be glad to hear. Or perhaps it's just me!
I don't know if I'm allowed to say on here, but I have just listed my E9A for sale on Ebay, if anybody is interested. It is in brand new condition as I have actually never used it due to illness, but want to get started again.
Thanks very much for any advice
