i love the ninomaya enamels. many years ago, i found too many schauer colors which had higher melting points, which usually caused cracks when i used them in cloisonne pieces. a couple of purples in particular. where are you going to get the Schauer enamels. i believe that milton brand in england began supplying them. rio grande was selling them but the quality was so bad they switched over to thompson colors recently.

I have been  using Ninomiya enamels since many years and like their quality. They does not seem to have any sales activity in Europe, so I have to purchase them in Texas. The Schauer enamels I bought many years ago, when they still supplied from Switzerland also. I used them only for sgraffito since they were "painting enamel" type, i.e. very fine grain size. I am not sure, whether you can buy these today.

you can buy Schauer enamels at www.emaille-hiller.de

They have the full range of colours. They sell 80 mesh powder and lumps. I'm still a beginner, but for me the blue and turquoise transparent colors are really beautiful. My most favorite is 140 light turquoise.

I agree with Ricky-!  I often use Ninomiya enamels for my cloisonné pieces because of the good quality and colors.
Rudolf, I think you can buy Ninomiya enamels at Vitrum Signum in London.. (I've never bought them there, but it's written on their website.) They don't have many colors but maybe you can try one  http://v1.vitrumsignum.com/products.php?catid=13

Ninomiya enamels, I sometimes ask the Ninomiiya company to send a parcel by airmail when I'm in a hurry. (They don't have online shop and e-mail system, so every time I have to send Fax to them though..! ) Otherwise I prefer to buy the enamels directly when I go back to Japan.  I think everyone (enamelist or company) is able to ask the company and order, though we have to pay parcel post and customs duty !

About Schauer enamels, I use them especially on Sterling Silver ( or SV 950) because many colors are good, even on these metals. As Doris says, the blue and turquoise color are lovely. My students's favorite is the 5275 Forgetmenot Blue which is beautiful even without Flux on Sterling Silver.   ^.^
