Enameling on bronze

I have not done much of this, but answer to the best of my second-hand information:  Yes, you can enamel on some bronzes, depending on the alloy.  In the US, most folks will be familiar with badges for boy scouts and the like, that are enamel and gold plate.  These are made of coined bronze, enameled and plated.  The material  is also called 'gilding metal' or 'tombac' but is a form of bronze. Thompson Enamel carries it. (good luck on the website, bless their hearts)  They told me that you can only fire it a limited number of times before things go wrong.  I forget the number of times (maybe 3?) or the nature of the problem that will arise, but perhaps someone else can fill the rest in.
