    PS  Do you do any foil work?  I am having trouble getting the texture to work.  Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

    Not a problem!  I do use foils under my enamels. When you say texture, I'm not sure what you mean?  Are you texturing the foil?  If you have any photos, that would help a lot.  You can email them to me at: nancy@nancytroskejewelry.com

    Yes I am talking about texturing the foil.  I have seen some work that has a strong

    foil texture showing through.  How do you texture foil and then how do you add it onto the fired glass and keep the texture?

    I have not textured foil to put under the enamel, but I don know that a large piece is hard to use because air gets trapped underneath.  I have pin pricked the foil when I use larger pieces to get the air out.  Fire, then while hot, burnish it down to the surface but you might lose the texture that way.  If you use a chopstick to press the foil into the hot enamel you may preserve the texture.  How large a piece are you working on?

    Not large.....1 1/2" pendants.  I asked Ricky Franks about it and all he said was he never has a problem.  

    Have you used a chopstick?  Wood?  

    How would you prick small pieces before you put them on?  The piece I have to show is at the gallery at the Art Center right now.

    I use a tiny dressmakers pin, chopsticks are wood because they don't transfer heat.  Maybe you need a very definite texture that doesn't get lost when fired.  His work is beautiful, I have always admired it.   When I foil enamels I was taught to use very tiny little squares and simply lay them onto the first enamel layer with Klyr Fire.  

    I think that is key, using small pieces of foil, it looks to me like that is what he does. 

    Are you using a rolling mill to get your texture?

    That's the problem partly.  I don't have a rolling mill.

    Guess I will have to take a class from someone that uses foil in this way.  Ricky does give classes, but usually at home.

    I somehow ended up with an extra copy of this book.  I have a paperback version of this book which is really excellent and I believe is now out of print. The book is in very good condition.

    If anyone is interested please make me an offer over $12.00.  I'll wait a few weeks to see how many, if any, offers come in and then let that person know.  I can ship it for $5.00.

    I've been cleaning out my workshop and trying to make some organized space, if that's possible!!!
