Hello again all
I have been having problems with getting an even surface on silver cast charms in the round without cracking. I believe my problem is enamel being too thick, so Ive decided to try liquid enamel. My reason being, I (in theory) should be able to get a nice even coat in one go with 325 mesh opaque enamels. With the 80 mesh I was using before, I wasn't getting an even coat until the 4th firing, at which point to would start flaking off.
My question being-
-Can I use Klyr-Fire as the binding agent in liquid enamel? If so, anyone have a good formula for mixing proportions with 325 mesh enamel, Klyr-Fire, and water?
- If Klyr-Fire won't work as a binding agent, what should I use instead?
Thank you in advance - Kallie Compton
Hi, don't make things to hard for yourself. I use Thompson liquid enamel. On he amount of water depends on how you want to use the enamel. I use a touch up gun set at 15-20 lbs. pressure. You can use paintable enamel if you want. You have to be sure no matter what enamel you use the surface has to be clean of all oil and dirt. The enamel has to be applied very thin. The thicker the enamel, the greater cracking and burning of edges. My enamel is 80 grit. I hope this helps
