Lately my silver outlines for cloisonne have been moving around on my enameled background. Is there a product that works better than kyl fire? I think I read once that there is a product that helps the silver to stick better.
Thank you,
Rosemary H.
Hi Mary Rose,
Placing wires down is tedious - are you laying cloisonne wires down on a flat surface or curved? you might be putting too much klyr fire on the wires - dip them and then shake it off - lay it down and give it a chance to dry - then apply the next wire - also have you laid down clear flux over the silver and fired it before laying down wires? There is another product for tacking down wires on vertical surfaces - called Blue Stic adhesive -
Also, are you using Klyr fire straight - undiluted?
Thanks Trish for your response. I believe I have gotten into some bad habits, and need to take more time. I use Klyr fire straight. Also, I don't let my wire dry before putting the next one down. I am working on a flat surface. Yes, I put clear flux over the silver. I haven't used silver foil for quite sometime, and it is totally beautiful so I plan to use it again. thanks for the tip on Blue Stic.

Hallo Mary Rose,
I' work with normal wallpaper glue for ages. Mix the glue with distilled water as described on the package. Then dilute it, also with distilled water as needed.
To prevent the wires from slipping on the high-gloss enamel surface, lightly sand the surface with a carborundum stone or a diamond file. The wires will not slip anymore.

Thank you Edmund for your idea. I will give it a try.
