Pink on Silver -- need help

    Dear Enamel friends,

Has anyone successfully fired a pale transparent pink over silver foil, fine silver or depletion-gilded sterling?  Mine seems to come up as orange every time.  I've tried it over both leaded and unleaded silver flux (both Thompsons) and the pink I've used is leaded tearose transparent pink.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.  Diana

It may be the flux...Thompson's fluxes tend to have a yellow tone.  Try testing your tearose over opaque white, if it stays pink, it's the flux, if it still turns orange, the tearose is at fault. If the flux is the problem, try switching to Bovano silver flux. Good luck.

Thank you, Marla!  I have fired the tearose over opaque white many times, and it's a delightful pink.  So you're right -- it must be the flux!  I shall try to find out where I can purchase the Bovano.  Thank you for your response.  Diana

Bovano #3 flux is great, very hard and I use it on the bottom only.  Also Ninomya makes a very stable pale pink called N 14.  Obviously fire it over flux, but it never yellows that I have seen. www.enamelworksupply.com and Coral make make other recommendations.

I've also used the Ninomaya pale pink and as long as there is a good uniform coat of N3 flux under it, it's consistently pink, in fact after 4-5 coats it becomes a great hot pink...
