Â
Â
Â
Step 1 - enamel an object. Gather a Speedball pen and P3 enamel-bearing oil from Thompson Enamel, medium fusing clear powdered enamel Thompson # 2030, enamel sifter.
Â
Â
Step 2 - dip pen in oil, touch side of pen to top of jar to remove excess oil.
Â
Â
Step 3 - write on enameled object. Re-dip pen as necessary. Be very careful not to touch writing as it will smear quite easily.
Â
Â
Step 4 - Prepare medium fusing clear powdered enamel Thompson # 2030 & enamel sifter.
Â
Â
Step 5 - LIGHTLY sprinkle clear enamel onto entire surface of object.
Â
Â
Step 6 - place on firing trivet
Â
Â
Step 7 - Fire for about a minute.
IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT!  IMPORTANT!
Fire only until clear enamel turns shiny. Firing too long will result in spreading of the hand writing & making it blurry.
Â
Â
Step 8 - remove from kiln & cool completely.
Â
Â
Finished object
Â
Â
Another example still hot from the kiln. Remember, fire the clear fusing enamel only until it turns shiny!
