Lily root powder is an excellent temporary adhesive for gluing wires to a vertical surface. It leaves no residue on the enamel. To achieve the viscosity that meets your needs, experiment with mixing powder to water ratios. Enamelwork Supply Co. suggests 1/4 tsp. lily root powder to 1/4 cup of water.

Some Japanese enamelists use a thicker mixture: 1 part powder to 10 parts of water. Sprinkle the powder over the water in a small container with a lid. SHAKE. Let stand a few hours to overnight. The clumps will settle to the bottom. Use the clear liquid on the top.

For 3D- when gluing wires onto a 3-D shape, hold the piece so that a portion of it is parallel to the floor (horizontal). Attach the wires to that portion and let dry before attempting the next area which should also be propped so that it is in a horizontal position. If you dip the wire in the lily root glue and then blot it on a tissue you are less likely to have your wires "swiming" in glue.

That sounds like a nice adhesive. Georgians use quince seeds to make the glue-not only it holds wires nicely, but it smells a bit like jam(-:
