WHERE IS THE STUMBLING BLOCK?

Well my last blog on "How Creative People Think" from John C. Maxwell's book, "How Successful People Think" has proven him right about surrounding yourself with Creative Thinkers! 00a0Already, Grains Members are jumping IN to the "Think Tank" with new ideas to move the site along, raise money, and market their enamel work. I am always in a state of thought with a focus on how to main stream the art of enameling into the fashion world and capture the attention of the public eye. Certainly, the site has brought together nearly 1,000 enamel artists worldwide with a Gallery of breathtaking art but we still have not reached our target market. 00a0The jewelry art magazines have opened up their pages to include enamels, but their readers are only other artists.

Every year that I travel to the Tucson Gem and Jewelry Show (which I believe is the largest in the U.S. for those global members who are not familiar) I look for enamel jewelry. I am lucky if I find one or two pieces and when I do, its usually from India. 00a0This year I did see Barbara Minor selling, and I met Patty Scott, who last year was there as a seller, and this year she did not.

The question to be raised is where is the stumbling block for enamel sales?

Is everybody happy with the status quo or do you want to see Enamel Art break more ground?

Do artists feel they are making enough sales off their sites to consider themselves successful that they don't need more publicity?

Why isn't there more awareness of enamel jewelry in department stores, jewelry stores, magazines?00a0

Is the enamel artist out pricing themselves with the general public in this economy? I have noticed the trend in metals changing with the outrageous rise in gold and silver.00a0
