I have some old Thompson leaded enamels that I've had for 25 to 30 years. I haven't used them much, but I lightly grind them in distilled water before I use them. Don't remember where I heard to do that. After I grind them, there is a dusty looking film floating on the surface of the water. The enamels work like new after that, but I haven't tested them without grinding. They have been stored in their original containers, some in plastic jars and some in plastic bags, but it is very dry here in Colorado. Jim
