I grind the cloisonné work with an electrical machine with diamond bands until grain 800-1000. Then lapping the enamelled surface with a felt wheel and Cer-oxide. That produce a silk-like surface. After wet cleaning and drying the surface, I warm up the work piece up to about 30 degree Celsius and then I rub the surface with a candle stump. With a kitchen paper towel I rub off the excess wax until the surface get a silk like gloss. Finaly lapping the surface with the palm of my thumb.
I prefer the silky surface because it feels very nice. The surface is, to my mind, haptically not so "callous" as a fire polished surface.
At time I create to a cheap enamel grinding machine. I myself have an expensive gem cutter machine which is to expensive for a little hobby-workshop. I builded the prototype of the machine only with material which I found in my workshop. It works well. Now I'm searching for material in the internet, so that people can copy the machine easy. (...)
