The Cost of Operating a Kiln

Would you like to know how much it costs me to run my kiln? Here’s how I calculated it:

    1. I found a metal plate on my kiln that states the volts (120) and amps (14.1) and multiplied the two numbers to get the watts (1692).

    2. I divided the watts by 1,000 to get the kilowatts per hour (1.692 KWH).

    3. I looked on my monthly electric bill and learned that the local cost of electricity is 11.35 cents per kwh. I multiplied 11.35 x 1.692 to find that it costs me 19.2 cents per hour to operate the kiln.

    Best deal in town!
