Antoinette Magaletta Such amazing detail. I'm in awe even though we do a completely different take on enameling. What blows me away is that we are all at at the same enamel bench. Lovely work.

Hello! Thanks for nice comments! To be compared to Tove Jansson is a great compliment! Her illustrations are very inspirational! Actually I draw my dog, a Luzerner laufhund, and transfered it into a piece of jewellery.

Thanks for comment! I shape 0,5 mm silverwire(thread) after drawings. I then flatten them a little tiny bit in my rolling mill before I reshape then and correct all the wire-ends so there is no gaps inbetween them. This is when I must be really patient! Then I solder, saw and "finish" the piece before I start the enamelling(wich of course is not always the easiest part of it!)

    Dina--

Just a few more questions if you don't mind--

The wire is a square or rectangular piece(.5mm), sterling or fine silver , soldered on what gauge base in sterling or fine silver and do you use eutectic silver?

Similar to Linda Dartys  saw and solder that I teach here.

we use 22 gauge(.64 mm ) for the top line work and solder onto a sterling base of18 ga(1mm)

and then depletion guild the piece before enameling

I have been using the eutectic solder for that as the enamel loves it-- used to use hard and keep the temp low so as not to flow .

I see you use mostly opaques so that is not a problem in creating higher heat.

Your work was show in a slide presentation at the Alchemy show and enamel conference and I wrote your name down to contact when I got back---small world isn't it.

    Jan Harrell:

Love the whimsy in your work and so beautifully crafted...

are you etching or hand gouging or stamping  or fabricating to get such crisp edges?
