Thanks Ramsay! It is mounted on an oval of plexi - you can just see it behind. The wood is attached directly to the plexi (they are 3/4 x 3/4": pen blanks from Lee Valley Tools which I hand finished) and the enamel pieces are floating to just below the wood (so about 1/2") mounted on small plexi squares. If you have ever worked with silicone glue you will know that it doesn't hold right away, so each piece had to be placed, and then held for about 1/2 hour before the next piece could be placed. I finished at 3:30 AM (-;
