Thanks Vera, good idea. I havent quite worked out my way around the site yet. I'm currently testing a theory (suggested by Tonya Powell)that it might be due to firing too hot. And Really hoping that might be the answer.

It only ever happens with fine silver wire, copper is always fine, and it cracks on a fine silver background and a copper background.
I always counter enamel, but I also torch fire so it gets hot quickly. the cracking usually happens after a few days or weeks but sometimes soon after firing. This one started showing cracks after about six weeks, after I'd set it...... It is very frustrating. I have stopped using silver for now.
