This is great, Mike. Do you engrave the areas out or do you saw the design out and solder two pieces together? How difficult is it for a novice to achieve smooth and straight lines like the Japanese logo in the back of the turtle?

Christina, I etch the cells where the enamel goes. I draw the design on a computer and use a vinyl cutter to create the etching mask. I use ferric nitrate as the mordant.
