I I have cut back and am focusing on shows closer to home. I rarely travel unless I can combine it with work - since times are tough. Also my new enamel supply business takes up a lot of time! Maybe next one!
I have been playing with the graphite technique a bit - but I don't have much time for new techniques either. Alot of admin work is taking up all my time and energy - but I hope it will ease up a bit next year...

With this piece I did about 6 coats of enamel on each side (I like to do lots of thinner layers rather than one thick one) and then I stoned it with a 220 grit alundum stone before drawing. I also made a stencil with 100% rag vellum with an opening only where I was going to draw, and stuck it to the piece with gum binder before drawing. It was easy to loosen with a little water when I was done. I did that because I wanted the background to remain perfectly white. It's very easy when using graphite for some to rub onto the area behind the drawing and then it's almost impossible to get it off! No erasers possible here! That is always my practice now. The only thing I have changed is I use 400 grit diamond cloth now rather than alundum stone because I find it faster and easier, and the surface is not as rough. less

Hi Catherine, I like your drawing! Is this an underglaze pencil? Did you prepare the white enamel surface to be able to draw on it ? I am experimenting also with drawings but the success is not yet overwhelming
