No - I did it on enamel. The background has an opalescent layer or two. I would go about the firing differently now: ever since I found out the opalescents benefit from long (4 minutes!) low firings. The beads are lapis.

Catherine, this is a beautiful piece. Did you do the enamel on lapis rather than on metal? I also love your "Hawthorne".
